Sunday was the day after my amazing day at Hatfield House and I was looking forward to an equally fabulous day – and I certainly got just that ! I arrived to photograph Vaso getting ready for her Big Day and was immediately hit with a wave of Greek hospitality, food being ‘forced’ into me (me being the gent I am I obviously obliged with NO fuss !) and a house full of people who brought a house full of LOVE with them ! Andy arrived with his violin and the traditional ceremonies began. The music and singing was captivating and hypnotic. Various family members came to take part in a variety of different customary rituals. The thing I loved was the feeling that as the bride’s mother came to take part she knew exactly what to do because she remembered her own wedding day and Vaso will perhaps find herself in the same position one day too. There was a real feeling that the wedding was a moment in Greek history, the next generation getting married. The Ceremony took part at St. Mary’s Cathedral and the traditional feelings continued. Later on traditional Greek music provided by Millennium made sure that if people WERE sat down it was because they’d either danced too hard or fell over in the process ! The final traditional aspect of the day I felt was that each and every person was there because they loved Vaso and Paul and as in generations gone by, they knew how to party !
